Get your run on for a good cause

The Pink Lemonade Project will be hosting a Cosmo 7K in Vancouver on Aug. 8. The race will start at the Artillery Barracks located on 600 East Hatheway Road.

The Pink Lemonade Project helps to educate and support women who are going through the breast cancer fight. Founded by Drs. Allen and Cassie Gabriel, PLP helps women with healing retreats, either solo or as a couple. They are also a breast restoration advocate and they are developing the Pink Link Program, which is a peer-to-peer group designed to add additional support to women in need. Their Lemon Drops program helps cover the cost of childcare to mothers in Vancouver while they undergo medical care.

Donations are currently being accepted on the Cosmo 7K website. A portion of the donations will also go toward the Fort Vancouver Trust, which helps to preserve the historic Fort Vancouver site.

Registration is open for ladies the day of the race starting at 3:30 p.m., or you can register ahead of time on the website. The 7K will start at approximately 6 p.m. and is expected to last for about an hour.

The entire course is 4.35 miles and takes place in downtown Vancouver. The route passes by Esther Short Park and Pearson Field Airport, and much of it stretches along the Columbia River.

Afterward the participants will be invited to enjoy Three Olives Vodka Cosmos with their friends to celebrate the completion of the race and the good cause that has been supported.

Please note, this is a 21 and over event and is for women only.
