Indoor Soccer: for beginners, professionals and everyone in between

Living in the rainy northwest can make wanting to stay indoors easy and can limit many opportunities for outdoor sports. But, on Sunday nights, the Recreation office refuses to let the weather stand in the way of a good time and reserves Salmon Creek Indoor, a gymnasium not far from Washington State University Vancouver, for indoor soccer.

Indoor soccer is free for students and faculty of WSU Vancouver and, according to OSI Recreation Intern Shawn Galivan; all skill levels are welcome to attend Indoor Soccer.

“It gets competitive, but it’s all fun based,” Galivan said.

Galivan added that “Indoor Soccer is held in an effort to get students and faculty at WSU Vancouver more involved, meet fellow students—and it also comes with good health benefits.”

Students are asked to provide their own cleats or soccer shoes, but all other equipment is provided by the Recreation office.

According to Galivan, of the 20-35 students who participate in indoor soccer, most are male and female students are encouraged to attend. Admission to Indoor Soccer is free because the Recreation office budget allows for the reservation of Salmon Creek Indoor. Salmon Creek Indoor is located at 110 NW 139th St. Students and faculty are welcome to drop by between 9– 11 p.m. on Feb. 16, 23 and March 2, and 9.
