Student parking practices trouble campus neighbors

Lieutenant David Stephenson of WSU Vancouver public safety and police services reported that WSU Vancouver is receiving complaints from residents regarding vehicles parked in the “No Parking” areas on or near NE 29th Avenue in Salmon Creek.

“[Cars are parked] on both the west and east sides of the road,” wrote Stephenson in an email to The VanCougar. “Vehicles in these areas cause safety issues due to blocking sight lines for vehicles and pedestrians emerging from cross streets.”

Parking in this area is enforced by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. If the problem persists, Stephenson warns that the Clark County Sheriff’s Office will increase their patrols and increase ticketing in this area.
“Parking is available on campus at minimal cost which includes frequent police and security patrols as well as jumpstart and lock out assistance,” notes Stephenson.

“Please help WSU Vancouver be a good and respectful neighbor and park only in legal areas,” Stephenson said.
