The Center for Social and Environmental Justice hosts new event

On Wednesday March 26, two professors from Washington State University Vancouver will give a lecture on environmental justice and energy extraction.  The lecture is sponsored by the WSU Vancouver Center for Social and Environmental Justice.  The first speaker is associate professor of English Wendy Olson. Her lecture, titled “Appalachian Rhetorics of Resistance: Professing Environmental Justice in the Mountains,” will focus on how activists can use rhetoric to help achieve their goals, particularly in a new digital environment.  The second lecture, “Extreme Energy Extraction and Export: Local, National and Global Environmental Justice Implications,” will be given by associate professor of political science Paul Thiers and will focus on the various ways energy is extracted from the earth.

Students and community members are encouraged to attend the lecture held in the Dengerink building (VDEN) Room 129 at Noon. For additional questions or information about the lecture, please contact Desiree Hellegers at desiree.hellegers@vancouver.wsu.edu
